Shelby Henson, School-Based Counselor at New Hope Academy

B.A. from Union University
M.S. from Lipscomb University

Shelby grew up in West Tennessee and moved to Nashville after college to pursue her master's in
counseling at Lipscomb University. After completing an internship at Show Hope, she felt called to serve
families and children who had been adopted. By following this calling, her eyes were opened to the
impact any trauma can have the on brain and has since spent much of her time working with children
that have experienced trauma and the others in their system who help hold the children's stories. She is
very excited to join the Mercy team as a school-based therapist at New Hope Academy.
In her spare time, she enjoys being with friends, visiting her family, and going to concerts as often as
possible. She also enjoys trying all the new restaurants that Nashville continually offers.
