With more than 30 years of counseling and consulting experience, Sharon has mastered the skills of helping people communicate effectively, build and maintain quality relationships, develop coping strategies, overcome traumatic events, maintain sobriety, and reach crystallized personal and professional goals. Her passion is to empower and educate people to love openly and work nobly.
She is a published writer who co-anchored a morning news broadcast for an NBC-affiliate for 14 years. The Mississippi Counseling Association named her the Clinical Mental Health Counselor of the Year for her work on "Living and Giving," a weekly mental health segment on WDAM-TV. She has worked in a university counseling center, an in-patient hospital, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic, a day treatment program for children and adolescents, and in her own private practice.
Sharon believes that God is our True North, the magnetic pull that guides us toward our callings in life. She loves music, reading, puns, romantic cottages, old trucks, and glamping in her vintage Airstream camper. Her adult daughter teaches English as a second language in France, and her son is completing his doctorate in nurse anesthesia. Sharon, whose maiden name was Lumpkin, is known to her two adored grandchildren as "Lumpy."
