Name/Credentials: Lindsey Hope Snyder, LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker)
Post graduate training: Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I also graduated with a certificate in trauma treatment.
Graduated: University of Tennessee, Knoxville
Hometown: Morristown, TN
Professional Description/Interest:
My professional experience includes working with brave birthmothers and prospective adoptive families at Miriam's Promise, an adoption agency and serving patients on some of their most difficult inpatient days as a social worker at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital.
I believe that every client who steps into my office is not a problem to be solved, but a person with dignity who is worthy to be loved.
I take a person-centered approach towards therapy, which simply means that I believe you have the capacity within you, by the grace of God for life-changing insights. I’m here as a fellow traveler and guide to encourage and empower you to gather and implement these insights. I am focused on providing an authentically warm, safe, judgment-free space for you to process your thoughts, feelings and life circumstances.
Depending on what brings you to counseling and what we are journeying through together, I will use interventions from Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing or other evidence-based approaches.
I love to include faith conversations and prayer into our sessions. According to your interests, personality, and needs, we may also incorporate art, music, games, writing or other creative activities into our times together.
Why do you work at Mercy?
I have always been a believer in integrated healthcare (body + mind + spirit) because I think that is Jesus' model. Jesus did not only heal people's physical wounds, He cared for their emotional, social and spiritual needs as well. Mercy's Jesus-centered mission in providing integrated healthcare to all is what drew me to work here.
Personal Information:
I live with my sister and my mini bordoodle (border collie/mini poodle mix) in Nashville. I wish my pup could be a therapy dog, but she's too hyper! I enjoy playing guitar/singing, writing music, reading, card/board games, serving at my church and spending time with friends and family.
